Geil S. Bilu, Esq. - Partner

Mr. Geil S. Bilu has been happily married to his lovely wife, Layne, since 2002. Geil and Layne are former high school sweethearts who have been inseparable since they were reunited in 2001 and have three beautiful children, Noah (2004), Sophia (2006), and Ari (2008). They have been proud residents of Boca Raton since 2007.
Geil’s main areas of practice include all aspects of Real Estate Litigation, including Residential and Commercial Foreclosure Defense work. With a keen eye for settlement options that will benefit both borrower and lender, Geil has parlayed his knack for “getting to the bottom line” into an effective method for negotiating and mediating both complicated and simple real property disputes. Geil has been helping distressed borrowers negotiate Short Sales with their lenders since 2002, long before most people had ever heard of a Short Sale. With his results oriented litigation style he has successfully argued dozens of Emergency Motions to cancel or postpone Foreclosure Sales and given distressed Homeowners and Lenders the time they need to successfully work out loss mitigation options ranging from Short Sales, Loan Modifications and Deeds-in-lieu of Foreclosure to repayment plans and short payoffs.
Geil’s Real Estate Litigation experience is not limited to Foreclosures, however, as has prosecuted and defended dozens of commercial and residential evictions, pre-construction deposit claims, ejectment and trespass actions, and breach of contract disputes for both leases and purchases. He has also assisted both Commercial and Residential Property Owners in Land Use and Rezoning petitions as well as disputes over Code Violations and Municipal Liens
As an Agent of Attorneys Title Fund Services, LLC and the Old Republic National Title Insurance Company, Geil has overseen thousands of Real Estate Closings and transactions ranging from $16,000 condominium units to $10 Million Dollar Shopping Centers. His extensive knowledge of the South Florida Real Estate Industry and fluency in Middle Eastern and European Cultures has made Geil the “go-to” guy for multi-national Real Estate Investment Companies and individual foreign investors alike. His hands on approach to negotiating Real Estate transactions has led to dozens of closings that were labeled as “impossible” by other attorneys and title agencies.
He has also assisted hundreds of South Floridian individuals and business owners from West Palm Beach to Key West in filing for Bankruptcy Protection to save their homes, protect their assets and make a fresh start. With the advent of the Bankruptcy Abuse and Consume Protection Act of 2005, many individuals found that they could not qualify for the Bankruptcy Protection that they needed, and Geil has assisted them in negotiating the debts that they could not otherwise discharge in Bankruptcy.
Geil attended the University of Miami, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and minor in Political Science and graduated with a commendation of General Honors from the University. He attended Yeshiva University’s Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in Manhattan on a merit scholarship award and received the degree of Juris Doctor. Geil is a Member in Good Standing of the Florida Bar and a member of the Real Estate and Young Lawyer’s Divisions of the Florida Bar. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida. Geil has also been an active Member Agent of the Attorney’s Title Insurance Fund since 2003 and a strong supporter of ALTA. Geil’s views on the benefits of Title Insurance were published in Forbes Magazine in 2006.
Aside from his legal pursuits, Geil also sits on the Board of Trustees of Congregation Shaarei Kodesh, where he is chairperson of the New Space Committee and co-chair of the Spiritual Life Committee. Geil is also a Trustee to the Board of Trustees of Palm Beach Chapter of Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, a non-profit organization that assists members and veterans of Israel Armed Forces in need by providing social and medical services as well as financial support.
